The Holidaze of 2022 are here!! This reminds me of all the great things this time of the year brings. Top of the list has to be the thrill I get from riding with my boys finding the dazzling displays of Christmas lights in our city and the places we travel. The glow of their face when finding glamorous displays rests at the top of the tree for me. Our family wears Christmas pajamas all month long in the evening and we always open up a new pair on Christmas Eve. Such a fun tradition. With the wearing of Pj's comes the watching of Christmas movies all month long in addition to Christmas music. The last three years dad has dressed up as Santa in the morning at the beach-house and the four of us have ventured to the Myrtle Beach Aquarium to see all the 50 states Christmas trees. The memory of having the aquarium to ourselves along with how much the boys enjoy the fish of the seas and the holidays warms my heart. At night the boys come to live right before falling asleep as reading Christmas books is a most for them. The question abound and the giggles flow as excitement of the Holidaze become more real. However, through the bright lights, sweet treats of cookies and cake, Guppy's renowned prime rib on Christmas night, or all the gifts which become to much. The twins are still young enough owning benevolent hearts that love to make what our family call "Blessing Bags" for the homeless. We pack them with small treats, hygiene items, warm clothing, and of course scriptures of encouragement. When heading downtown they always ask mom if she has them ready. With that said, it is not a brag or a picture of a perfect family. It is a reminder that the Holidaze are for love, our Christ's birth, and most of all that owning a childlike heart is the best gift we can give to others at anytime of the year. I am not someone who is big on gifts, but I am big on how people treat one another. Spread bliss this year as much as you spread Nutella! 1. Not all who wander are lost. Some are just moms. In Target. Hiding from their children and husband!!
2. Have kids so that instead of real gifts you can give friends and family novelty photo items with pictures of your children they saw on social media yesterday!!
3. "I better not shout, I better not cry," I quietly sing to myself as I tuck the twins back into bed for the 187th time!!
4. As a parent I love this time of year: listening to the kids write their letters to Santa, watching Christmas films, going out and choosing a Christmas tree, and going into the attic to get all the decorations so I can just sit up there in peace for about half an hour!!
5. Cleaning your house while your twins are still growing up is like shoveling the sidewalk before it stops snowing!!
