The thing that I miss the most now my mom has ascended to our eternal home with the Lord is how ecstatic she always was to hear my voice or to see me in person. No matter if I called for boring reasons, to be stubborn, or to ask for advice she was over the top elated to hear my voice. If I came home for a short period or to visit for a longer duration she simply was excited and grateful. That had me thinking about how my twins are Luminous Legends that have an ability to light up a small room or a grandioso building. Thus, the question became: Does My/Your Eyes Light Up When You See Your Child? Learning from my mom aka Gram Gram, now that I have twins of my own, am I happy-enthusiastic-overjoyed to see Myles & Ryker?? Even when I’m buried in emails or at practice, I try to always look up with a huge smile and big embrace when they walk-in. Am I perfect at this, absolutely not. However, I have made it more of a priority. Even when I’m sick, busy, tired or stressed, I want both of the boys, to always know, 100%, that I’m thrilled to be illuminated by their existence. Before realizing this needed change I would look at them to see if they had matching clothes or if their hair was combed or this or that. You think your affection and your deep love is on display because you’re caring for them. It’s not. When they see you, they see the critical face. So I asked myself does the boys' body language light up when they see me or when they enter a room I occupy. Because they notice!! The goal is for the Luminous Legends to come through a door and announce, “Ta da!!!” They need a heart that sings I'm worthy of such fanfare. What about you? Have you ever thought about this? Maybe every mother and father does! It’s one of those little things that feels really important in this season of our lives. Nothing helps make me a bigger fan than 5 Friday Finds each week.....
Overheard a pair of twins emphatically complimenting each other’s clothes in my house this week, then I realized they were practicing their sarcasm!!
This week the twins started pitching a detective series where every single episode ends with the reveal that the other one did it!! Spring debut release TBD!!
No one suddenly needs anything more than twins whose dad has just turned on the game and sat down with wings on his lap!!
When watching a movie with twins, you need to be prepared to answer questions like: — Is that a bad guy? — Who’s the bad guy? — Is there more than one bad guy? — Which one is the baddest guy?
What I said last night: it's time for bed!! What my twins heard: it's time for pasta I am hungry!!
