5 Friday Findings!!!!! Sweep the Streets!!

Never underestimate how creative people can be when they do bizarre things. The last week I have been doing a consultant job helping a local entity recruit more diversely. This included looking at data at the racial make-up of the entire company and who held exactly which jobs. What gets me every time is that the answers are simple. Create a culture where people want to work, thrive, and belong. Write better job advertisements and post on a plethora of media channels. Have you ever asked yourself why people or businesses have to be so stuffy today, we generally equate seriousness with intelligence, or at least with importance. However, to an extent, this is understandable, but it prevents us from consciously recognizing the importance of humor in our thoughts, feelings, and behavior. We want people to be funny to, whether they are our politicians, our teachers, writers, film stars, or our family members. We also want to be funny ourselves. Yet, we are not ready to acknowledge humor as a category of genius on the scale of mathematics, music, science, or art. Truth be told it should be though and will help any organization or business attract a more diverse workforce or clientele. Humor is the key to attracting better talent, creating a workplace environment that people actually enjoy and a way to break the ice at parties or even business meetings. It is a basic need for both the giver and the receiver. It is, or should be, a basic element of your interactions with other people. Humor is an instrument you should use, and you should learn to use it well. That does not mean you should memorize jokes from books. It does mean that you should see the necessity for a light and humorous touch. For instance, did you know New York City street sweepers cover 6,000 miles a day at an 8 mile per hour pace, enough to crawl across the country and back? Stop being so serious all the time, enjoy life around you. Therefore, enjoy a small bit of humor this Friday morning from what I have learned as a TwinDad this week.....

1. Dining out with twins is a great way to practice talking in livid whispers!!

2. Can we make a dating style app, but where you swipe to find other parents to hang with or drink with?

3. Find yourself a spouse who giggles when the ketchup bottle farts. If not, just produce twins because they will!!

4. Hi, what I’m presently doing appears to be causing my parents great trepidation. I shall forge ahead with gusto!! – TwinBrothers

5. The essence of parenting is about lovingly tucking your Twins into bed at night and still waking up with a small foot on your face.
